Most of us always like to download video files from video sites onto our computer because the videos can be opened smoother and easier to manage. However, all video sites don’t allow us to download. Follow my two tips to download video files off the internet quickly.Here’s what I tell you in this post: grab the direct link of the video file and then download it with a download accelerator like IDM or Orbit Downloader. I use two online services to grab the link: Keepvid.com and File2HD.com
KeepVid.com:
KeepVid.com helps us to download video files from over 40 video sites: Google video, Angry Alien, ArtistDirect, Blastro, Blennus, Blip.tv, Bofunk, Bolt, Break.com, Castpost, Dailymotion, DevilDucky, FindVideos, Free Video Blog, Google Video, Grinvi, Grouper, iFilm, LuluTV, Metacafe, Midis.biz, Music.com, MusicVideoCodes.info, MySpace Video Code, PcPlanets, Pixparty, Putfile, REVVER, Sharkle, StreetFire, That Video Site, The One Network, VideoCodes4U, VideoCodesWorld, VideoCodeZone, vidiLife, VIDNET.com, Vimeo, Web62.com, YouTube and ZippyVideos
All you have to do is just copy and paste the address of video page into the textbox, then click Download. The direct link will be shown in a few seconds. Now you right click on a link and select Save link as… (or Save target as… in IE) or using other download accelerator like IDM.
Note: if the video is from YouTube, there will be two links for you: one is the normal quality video (.flv) and the other is the video in high quality (.mp4). Here is my habit - I don’t know whether it is good or not :-) - when I find a video online, I always try to find another version of that video on YouTube to grab the high quality file.
File2HD:
However, KeepVid.com will become useless if you try to download a video from unsupported site. That’s the time to try another service: File2HD.com.
I don’t know exactly the way File2HD does to get the links. This is just my guest: File2HD mimics the way the client browser request for video files from server, and when server feed the client browser the real link, File2HD will catch and tell us.
You can also use File2HD to download other multimedia files such as audio, image, flash file…
To grab the link, just copy the address of video page you want to download and past into the textbox. Remember to check the option I have read and agree to the Terms of Service, then Set the filter to a file type you want to download.
Finally, click on the button Get Files. The list of links will be shown below, you now can right click on a link to download or use that link with a download accelerator to download.
These are two easy and quick ways to download video files from Internet because there’s no need to install any utilities else. All you have to do is to grab a direct link of the video file and then download it.
