My first IM is Yahoo and I’ve been using it. But when I’m active more on social media and need to communicate with other bloggers, I prefer Gtalk and I am now using both of these IM services.
I used to install two IM applications on my computer, and this takes more memory as well as the system resource. Then, I find Pidgin is what was designed for guys who want to use multiple IMs at the same time like me.
Come with multiple IM protocols, Pidgin seems to be the IM application supports most protocols at the moment. No need to configure the setting for each protocol like other IM applications, you can add a new account just with a few clicks. Here are some supported protocols:
AIM
Bonjour
Gadu-Gadu
Google Talk
Groupwise
ICQ
IRC
MSN
MySpaceIM
SILC
SIMPLE
Sametime
XMPP
Yahoo!
Zephyr
Yahoo Messenger
