What Is The Difference Between 32-bit And 64-bit Operating Systems?

In many cases today, you might see the words ‘32-bit’ and ‘64-bit’ more often. It may be when you are visiting a download page where the vendor offers two versions for both 32-bit and 64 bit. Alternatively, when you buy an operating system or download an ISO image of a Linux distro which also asks you to choose between 32-bit or 64-bit. So what is the difference between 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems?
